What exactly is Material?

Material is a strategic services company focused on helping nonprofits improve their brand, communication and engagement assets, efforts and investments. It is a research practice, a creative design firm, a content and user experience producer, a marketing agency and a data science house. Material is an independent enterprise with a highly knowledgeable, richly capable and deeply experienced team of subject matter experts who are passionate about making an impact through our work with nonprofits. ​

Why the name Material?

Material exists as a force for impact. Our name represents our intent to be effective partners in work which is measurably significant––work which leads to a better future for all.

WhY the Color Magenta?

Magenta is the color of universal harmony and emotional balance. It blends the power, passion and energy of red with the calm restraint and mindfulness of violet. Magenta promotes compassion, kindness and cooperation. Like the team at Material, it is optimistic, content and appreciative.    

WHo are material's clients?

We are highly focused on partnering with nonprofit organizations, but we are also engaged by marketing agencies and consulting firms to augment their client teams, work process and product across a broad range of industries, organizational and experience initiatives. 

​How does material Charge for its services?

We are employed on either a per project or per hour basis, whichever is best for our client partners and their strategic service needs, scopes of work and/or operational protocols.  

​How does material give back?

We contribute 1% of every dollar earned to 1% FOR THE PLANET, Patagonia's global movement to inspire businesses to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions. We also donate our time and services to one small nonprofit organization per each calendar year. Our next call for applicants will be announced and opened in Q3 2023 for calendar year 2024.
